Thai Airways is considered as the national airline of Thailand. The airline was established in the year 1960 as a result of a joint venture between Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) and Thai Airways Company. The airline went on to become Thai Airways International in 1988 with the merger of domestic and international operations of Thai Airways. The airline was one of the founding members of the largest airline alliance named Star Alliance.

The airline conducts its operations primarily from Suvarnabhumi Airport.  It is headquartered in Bangkok. With over 80 aircrafts, it operates in 35 countries across the world. It reaches to passengers of 75 destinations globally. It also operates non stop flights from Bangkok to Los Angeles and from Copenhagen to Phuket. The recently launched Thai Smile is the new subsidiary of the airline that runs on the domestic routes.

The airline has maintained excellent hygiene level in all its flights. Thus, World Health Organization awarded it for excellent hygiene in its flights. The flights of the airline have been divided into four classes namely Royal First Class, Royal Silk Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. Also, it offers appreciable in-flight and on-ground services. This is the reason why the airline was awarded “The Best Airline in the World” title in 2006 by Skytrax.
